The Internet Rules!

Entry 57, on 2004-09-27 at 11:19:12 (Rating 1, Computers)

Its always difficult to get a fair opinion on a subject when there are powerful political or commercial interests involved. Before we had the Internet we had to rely on printed and broadcast media which were only available to groups who could afford it.

Now that we have easy access to the Internet its possible to get information from any point of view on any subject almost instantly. The problem of identifying accurate information from biased or just plain incorrect information remains, of course.

The reason I felt it necessary to mention the subject (which a lot of people would just take for granted anyway) at this time is that I have spent a lot of time recently reading "alternative" new sources such as the Aljazeera web site and I realised just how much we would be missing if these Internet based sites weren't available. Its just so refreshing to get information which hasn't gone through the censorship system imposed by the big networks, such as CNN.

OK, I see what you mean. The Internet is more fun than TV!

Ha..ha.. I hope there won't be any squid proxy server that is putting aljaazera on the list.
