This might fix the Spotlight search if the usual rebuild doesn't work. This is often shown when search works in some accounts, but not others, on the same machine
Remove these files and folders from the local library... Preferences > com.apple.spotlight.mdwrite.plist Preferences > com.apple.spotlight.plist Preferences > com.apple.spotlightknowledge.plist. Caches > com.apple.spotlight Application Support > com.apple.spotlight
