Reset Wifi Files in macOS 13

If your wifi stops working, and the simple solutions (disconnect the reconnect, reboot, etc) don't help, you might need to delete the relevant settings files, and let the system rebuild them.

Reset Wifi Files in macOS 13...

Turn Wi-Fi OFF
In Finder: click the "Go" menu and choose "Go To Folder"
Enter the following file system path: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
Remove these files:
- com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
- NetworkInterfaces.plist,
- com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
- com.apple.network.eapolclient.configuration.plist
- preferences.plist
Restart the computer
Toggle Wi-Fi back on

Note, you can move the files to be removed to another location, like the desktop, where they will be inactive. Then, if you need them active again, just move them back to the original location (replacing anything new which might have been created).

I usually write a blog post about once a week. The latest post can be viewed here: Confidence vs Competence: Forget confidence, give me competence instead! (posted 2024-09-10 at 21:26:31). I do podcasts too!. You can listen to my latest podcast, here: OJB's Podcast 2024-08-22 Stirring Up Trouble: Let's just get every view out there and fairly debate them..
