The hill is almost black, the street lights in front of the hill are just visible, and the sky maintains its colour because its not too over-exposed. Notice the fringing around the top of the hill against the bright sky. The Sony camera lens used wasn't really good enough to handle such a contrasty image. Have a look at a similar photo taken with a Canon camera on this site to see what a better quality lens can do (to be fair the Canon camera cost almost twice as much as the Sony). |
