I like taking photos in unusual lighting conditions, especially near sunset. Often this gives more contrast and interesting lighting in the sky, and the shadows can add extra intensity to the scene. The trick here is often to choose the best part of the scene to meter on. Sometimes slight underexposure can give stronger colour effects.
