Start Up to OJB's Stories List Astronomy I have been an amateur astronomer for longer than I have been an amateur photographer, so it makes sense that I would combine the two by doing some astrophotography. Astrophotography is arguably the most difficult type of photography. Often the object I am trying to capture isn't even visible, so lining up the object and focus can be difficult. Then there are the exposure times which can be from super fast for the Sun to super slow (many minutes) for stars and nebulae. To make matters even worse, the sky is rotating (of course it's really the Earth which is rotating) meaning the longer exposure must be done using a driven and correctly aligned telescope. And finally, most scope drives have small errors meaning manual corrections are often also necessary. There are 6 photos in this story. Click the Start button to start viewing them. |
