The Seasprite helicopter has a crew of 3, including a pilot, an observer who specialises in warfare and mission command, and a helicopter loadmaster who directs operations. New Zealand has used this version since 2015 when they replaced an older model. Their role is to enhance the capabilities of the naval fleet in a range of roles. They can be equipped with Penguin anti-ship missiles, Mk 46 torpedoes and the Mag 58 general purpose machine gun.

The NH90 has a maximum cruise speed of 285 kph, and a range of 680 km or about 4 hours on internal fuel. The engines are Rolls-Royce Turbomecca RTM 322 turbine engines with 2227 shaft horsepower each. The standard crew is two pilots and two loadmasters, and it can seat up to 18 passengers. Armament is two pintle mounted 7.62mm MAG 58 Machine Guns.
