He Did It!

Entry 496, on 2007-03-16 at 12:31:16 (Rating 5, Politics)

I saw in the news this morning that Al Qaeda suspect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has admitted to organising the 9/11 attacks on the US as well as the 1993 attack on the New York World Trade Centre, the nightclub bombing in Bali, the attempt to down two American airplanes using shoe bombs, and other attacks. Wow, this guy has been busy!

Through my secret sources I can now reveal that he also encouraged Hitler to invade Poland, planted a bomb on the space shuttle, lit the fire that destroyed the Hindenburg, and pushed the iceberg into the path of the Titanic!

Thank god the brave band of torturers and secret police run by our friends the Americans at Guantanamo Bay have revealed this evil man for what he is! Freedom and truth triumph again! Because of George Bush and his policies the world is a safer place... isn't it?

Lately, I have been reading alot of your blogs and alot of the comments people have left on them. In this blog entry of yours, you say "Thank god the brave..." I am confused. From what I have read, you didn't believe in God. Why did you say that then?

I was being facetious and ironic, I thought. I was alluding to how these so-called Christians in the US government don't really follow the better parts of Christian doctrine at all. I thought I was being quite smart, but if you didn't get it, well...

Ummm... I don't think you got my point at all. My point was that if you don't believe in God, you shouldn't say "Oh my God!" or "Thank God..." because when did you ever thank Him?

I was being ironic. Was that too subtle for you? I was trying to point out how the US leadership are always thanking god for this and that, but their actions don't indicate a lot of real commitment to the religious ideals they claim to follow. But even if that wasn't my original motivation, "thank god" is just a general expression which has lost its original literal meaning.

I know that it lost its literal meaning, but I thought you would still take it literally out of all people.

OK, I'm only going to say this one more time. I did use it in the literal sense, but I was being sarcastic. I was trying to point out how believers in god, used his name in a very non-Christian cause. In no way does it indicate I believe god exists, OK?

OK. I think we are completely missing each other's points.
