The Stick

Just a quick follow up on my blog entry from yesterday. I listened to an interview with the new National welfare spokeswoman, Judith Collins, today. She was constantly parroting the rhetoric introduced by her leader (generally involving use of the term the "stick" indicating punitive policies against welfare beneficiaries), so I think any reasonable debate on this topic is well and truly over.

From now on it looks like discussion on this topic will degenerate to constant repetition of the party line. The effectiveness, fairness or otherwise of this message will be totally lost. Just what I expected, really.
