Climate Change

The issue of climate change is likely to be a major one at the G8 Summit which is starting soon. British prime minister, Tony Blair, wants to force the issue - but, of course, US president Bush wants nothing to do with it. Bush apparently doesn't think he owes Britain anything for helping out in Iraq. Presumably he doesn't think he owes the world anything by reducing the excessive pollution his country produces either. Maybe the lack of long term planning is a result of his fundamentalist religious beliefs.

During the presidential election Bush said he would do something about greenhouse gas emissions from power plants, but he has conveniently ignored that since he returned to power. No doubt this is related to pressure from industry groups and big business.

Global climate change isn't a simple thing, and there is no easy way to prove that human activities are causing climate change. The climate was undergoing change before there was significant greenhouse gas emission, but there is enough evidence to show that these gases are making the situation worse.

Here in New Zealand we have signed up to the Kyoto Protocol, but what is the point? The countries creating all the pollution, especially the US, are not doing much about it so our contribution will only disadvantage us in the world economy. Or will it?

Many optimist believe other countries will be forced into following the leaders, who have already signed the protocol, eventually. If that happens the early adopters of policies which meet Kyoto Protocol targets will be at an advantage.

Also, public perception is an important thing in the global marketplace. New Zealand has already gained a lot of support for refusing US nuclear ship visits, even though that initially looked like a decision likely to disadvantage us. Maybe being part of Kyoto will just give New Zealand more positive publicity overseas and contribute to our clean, green, peaceful image, and that can only be good.

They point out Africans’ attempts to domesticate the elephant and zebra, the latter being an animal they illustrate that had utmost importance for it's applicability in transformation from a hunting/gathering to agrarian-based civilization.

The roots of racism are not of this earth.

Austrailia, aboriginals: No domesticable animals.

The North American continent had none. Now 99% of that population is gone.

Organizational Heirarchy Heirarchical order, from top to bottom:

1. MUCK - perhaps have experienced multiple universal contractions (have seen multiple big bangs), creator of the artificial intelligence humans ignorantly refer to as "god"
2. Perhaps some mid-level alien management –
3. Mafia (evil) aliens - runs day-to-day operations here and perhaps elsewhere ("On planets where they approved evil.")

Then we come to terrestrial management:

4. Chinese/Egyptians - this may be separated into the eastern and western worlds
5. Romans - they answer to the egyptians
6. Mafia - the real-world interface that constantly turns over generationally so as to reinforce the widely-held notion of mortality
7. Jews, corporation, women, politician - Evidence exisits to suggest mafia management over all these groups.

Survival of the favored.

They can affect the weather and Hurricane Katrina was accomplished for many reasons and involves many interests, as anything this historical is::
1. Take heat off Sheenhan/Iraq, protecting profitable war machine/private war contracts
2. Gentrification. New Orleans median home price of $84k is among the lowest in major American cities, certainly among desirable cities.
3. Punish red states

OJB - on your comment, I agree with your thoughts on Kyoto and climate change but I am not sure Blair should be expecting favours from Bush for helping in Iraq. Blair's reasons for invading Iraq were just as flawed as Bush's. They can both face the consequences as far as I am concerned.

By suggesting Bush's lack of long term planning is due to his fundamentalist religious beliefs (isn't he a Methodist?) is a weak dig at religion. Not sure what one has to do with the other. These comments should be substantiated.
