Apparently the latest "blockbuster movie", The Da Vinci Code, is so boring that it made the BBC film critic's head sore. There has been a lot of fuss about the book, and now the movie. Many people seem to forget that its a work of fiction, although the theories it contains are supposedly serious.
I find it hard to take the whole concept regarding the life of Jesus seriously. After doing some research on the subject I can't even decide whether anyone even remotely resembling the Jesus described in the Bible really existed. Discussing whether he married and had children seems somewhat superfluous.
And whether mysterious religious orders with their own secret agendas exist is hardly worthy of debate. We all know about the power the big churches have, even in the so-called modern world.
I deliberately haven't read this book, because I thought it would be a frustrating mix of fiction and supposed serious theory, and I also haven't seen the movie, so I guess criticising the whole phenomenon like this maybe isn't so advisable, but that's my current opinion on the subject.
