I have been listening to some podcast lectures by Stephen Hawking about issues such as the origin of the Universe and the application of quantum mechanics to black holes. Not surprisingly, there are some issues and conclusions which can be a bit hard to grasp.
For example, the idea of an anti-particle travelling backward in time while it exits a black hole, or whether the Universe has a beginning or end, or is the Universe deterministic, or what is imaginary time.
I think I'll need to listen to these again to get a better understanding, but the casual way Hawking throws these ideas around is somewhat disconcerting!
