I listened to an interview with our foreign minister this morning. New Zealand engineers are returning home after being in Iraq for one year trying to fix some of the damaged infrastructure. They haven't done much for the last six weeks because of the worsening security situation there.
Our government is careful not to criticise the US too obviously (it has already happened once and they had to back down) but what he said was the next best thing to a rejection of US actions in Iraq. I was really quite surprised how obvious the implied criticism was. Maybe the world is getting sick of the corruption and incompetence of the Bush regime and are finally becoming brave enough to say so.
