Expensive Toys!

Entry 73, on 2004-10-22 at 12:08:42 (Rating 1, Activities)

Well, the iPod definitely has proved to be a toy that I get a lot of use out of. Many people accuse me of having too many expensive toys, but they have to admit that I'm not the sort of person to buy them and not use them. The iPod (even though I didn't technically buy it), my laptop (hmmm, didn't buy that either), and my digital camera (OK, I did buy that) all get thrashed practically every day. Only my beautiful, expensive Canon film camera gets used infrequently.

So I use the iPod to listen to music when ever I walk anywhere around the University and town. Unfortunately, they are so popular now that seeing one isn't really a big deal any more.

The laptop is a bit different. Most days I spend a bit of time in cafes typing up blog entries (like this one) or working on web sites and on-line databases. You see other people with laptops but they are usually ugly pieces of junk like Compaqs. I wouldn't want to be seen in public with something like that. At least when you use a thing of beauty like a PowerBook G4 in public, if you are accused of being a geek, you are a geek with taste!
