This is the latest iteration of my main web site, and probably what you are using right now. It is a major revision of the initial version of my main site, "Owen2". It contains about 13,000 records in the databases which feed the site, where each record ranges from a few sentences to many pages.
The site content is sourced from multiple MySQL databases. The main site logic is contained in about 60,000 lines of PHP code, and there is significant Javascript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL code as well.
As well as presenting my interests to the world (astronomy, aircraft, Apple computers, wine and beer, photography, cars, politics, skepticism, etc) it also serves as a place to try out different web programming ideas, which are then often useful in other projects.
The site is primarily adaptive: there are two sets of "templates" the pages are composed through, one for desktop and one for mobile, with reactive elements doing the "fine tuning".
My site recently (1 May 2026) recorded its one billionth page view! I suspect 90% of that is from bots and other junk traffic (a view supported when I look through the logs), but I'm still happy if 10% is genuine! |
