Project number: 51 (number in database). Original project name: Dent Databases. Development type or programming language: Helix. Platform designed for/with: Mac. Year of most recent major modification: 1988.
The Dent Databases are a collection of databases I created in the early days of the Mac (mid 1980s) for the Dental School at the University. They kept track of interesting patients and treatments they had encountered, for research purposes. Helix was an interesting tool. It was quite powerful and very graphical (for example, each field was represented by an icon) so creating databases was easy. Unfortunately many operations were quite slow and the interface was a bit odd.
