Drag the divider line up or down to make the dock bigger or smaller. Hold down the option key while doing this to jump to sizes where the icons display best. Hold down the shift key and drag the divider line on the dock to move the dock to either side or the bottom of the screen. Hold down the control key and click the divider line to display a pop-up menu for setting dock options. You can use command-option-D to hide and show the dock.
Hold down the shift key while minimising a window to see the effect in slow motion - this looks particularly good with the genie effect. This looks cool but doesn't have any practical purpose I can think of.
There are many options available in the Dock settings. Get to these through the System Settings (called System Preferences prior to Ventura) or right-click the divider line and choose Dock Settings (Dock Preferences) from the menu that appears.
I recommend turning off magnification. It looks cool, but I find it makes clicking on the correct icon more difficult. Also try the other settings to see what works best for you.
I usually write a blog post about once a week. The latest post can be viewed here: Avoid Microsoft: If you don't really like computers much you could make things a bit better for yourself.
