Create a PDF from Image Files

You can easily create a multi-page PDF file from a series of individual graphic images (such as JPEGs) using Preview. Preview is a free app supplied with the computer, which can do many useful things. This is just one of them!

Instructions to combine files into a PDF using Preview (Mac OS X 10.14 and later)...

1. Open the first JPEG (or other graphic) file in Preview (just double-click the file).
2. Go to "View" menu in Preview, choose "Thumbnails".
3. Drag the second file from the Finder (desktop) to the thumbnails area in the Preview document, below the existing thumbnails, and repeat for remaining files.
4. You can drag the thumbnails up and down the thumbnails list to rearrange them.
5. Go to the File menu and choose Print.
6. Choose a magnification and page orientation to fit the images best.
7. Go to PDF menu at bottom-left of the save dialog and choose "Save as PDF".
8. Give the new PDF file a name, and save it.

Note. Instead of step 3 above you could do this instead...
a. Double-click the second (and subsequent) files to open them.
b. If it opens in the same window (now 2 items in thumbnail list) you're good, repeat for the remaining files.
c. If the file opens in a separate window, choose "Thumbnails" again and drag the thumbnail to the first window, below the existing thumbnail page.
d. Repeat these steps until all are merged.
e. Continue from step 4 above.
