Up to OJB's Photos StoryOtago Harbour, Otago I often used to visit Portobello Marine Lab as part of my work in IT for the University of Otago. This involves a journey of about 20 minutes along a windy road which travels along Otago Harbour out to the lab. I composed this photo using the classic "rule of thirds". The sea in the foreground takes about a third of the area, and the sky the other one third. The usual half sea and half sky composition can be effective, especially with reflections where symmetry is being emphasised, but usually making things too symmetrical looks artificial. |
